Mahni

mahni
It is a popular kashmiri dish, cooked gram flour pakoras in a spicy thick gravy made from gram
flour and mango.

Ingredients
Green mango                            4
Gram flour                                6 tbsp
Garlic chopped                         ½ tsp
Turmeric powder                        ½ tsp
Fenugreek seeds                       1 tsp
Asafoetida                                ½ tsp
Red chilli powder                       1 tsp
Red chilli                                   2
Sugar                                       2 tbsp
Salt                                          to taste

Method
To make pakora
Take a mixing bowl, add 4 tbsp gram flour, chopped garlic, asafoetida, salt and mix it.
Now add water and make a thick batter.

Heat oil in a pan and make small pakoras from this batter.

Remove on tissue.

To make mango mixture
First peel off the mangos.
Boil them in water then take out the pulp and mix with the same water and keep in a bowl.
Now add 2 tbsp gram flour, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, sugar and mix well.

Heat oil in a pan, add fenugreek seed and sauté., red chillies, asafoetida.

Then add mango mixture and mix well. let it boil.

Add fried pakoras and cook for 2 – 3 minutes on low flame.

add pakoras in gravy
The mahni is ready to serve.
