SALOUQ

salouq
Salouq is an Arabic dessert, they are small pieces of bread, stuffed with delicious Date or Date-Walnut Filling.

Ingredients
For dough
All purpose flour                        2 cup
Sugar                                       5 tbsp
Pinches baking powder              2 - 3
Cardamom powder                    ¼ tbsp
Milk                                          ½ cup
For date’s filling
Dates                                       ½ cup
Cardamom powder                     ½ tbsp
Rose water                                ½ tbsp
Saffron                                      a pinch  
Sugar                                        2 tbsp
Saffron soaked in milk                3 tbsp
For dates & walnut’s filling
Dates                                       ½ cup
Walnuts                                    2 tbsp
Cardamom powder                     ½ tbsp
Rose water                                ½ tbsp
Saffron                                      a pinch  
Sugar                                        2 tbsp
Saffron soaked in milk                2 tbsp
For dusting
All purpose flour
For garnish
Icing sugar
Cardamom powder

Method
Take a mixing bowl, add all purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, cardamom powder, milk and water then mix well to knead a dough.

Now put dates in two different bowls.

Mix walnuts in one of them.

After this, mix cardamom powder, rose water, saffron and sugar in both the bowls to prepare a mixture.
Next, roll out the prepared dough and stuff it with the prepared dates mixture along with dates and walnut’s mixture.

Now, seal the dough and bake it at 160°-172° Centigrade for 15-18 minutes.
Garnish the prepared Salouq with icing sugar and cardamom powder then place them on serving bowl. Your
salouq on baking tray with icing sugar and cardamom powder
Salouq is ready to serve.
