Bata macher jhal

bata macher jhal
Bata macher jhal is very tasty dish of bata fish cooked with mustard seed and tomato.

Ingredients
Bata fish                                   5
Panch phoron                           1 ½ tsp
Tomato                                    1 medium
Green chilli                               3
Mustard paste                          1 tbsp
Turmeric powder                       1 ½ tsp
Salt                                          to taste
Coriander leaves                        few

Method
First properly wash the fishes and marinate with 1 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp salt for 5 minutes.
In the mean time make smooth paste of mustard seed.
Now heat oil in kadai and fry the fishes from both sides until very light brown.
Remove from oil and keep aside.
Now in the same oil add panch phoron and 1 green chilli and stir.
Add sliced tomato and cook until it melts.

Then add mustard paste and mix well.

Now add fried fish and then cook turn over them for few times.

Add some water, remaining turmeric powder, salt then cover and cook for 3 – 4 minutes.

Open cover add chopped coriander leaves, mix well and serve.
