It
is a popular south-indian breakfast, which is very healthy and the taste is yummy.
Try it.
Ingredients
For
batter
½
cup of split, skinless urad dal
1
½ cup of rice
¼
tsp of fenugreek seeds
Water
as required
Salt
to taste
For
topping
Chopped
onion
Chopped
tomato
Chopped
coriander leaves
Grated
coconut
Butter
Method
First
wash and soak the rice for a minimum of 4 hours.
And
wash and soak the urad dal and fenugreek seeds together in another bowl for the
same time.
Then
drain water from the rice and grind it using water till it is a little coarse
or smooth per your choice. I personally leave it a little coarse.
Transfer
it in a large bowl.
Again
drain and grind the urad dal and fenugreek seeds to a fine paste using required
water.
Transfer
it in the same bowl where you’ve stored the rice batter.
Add
salt and mix them together. The batter should be of thick enough. You may add a
little water if you think the batter is too thick.
Now
cover the bowl with a lid and allow it to ferment over night or for at least 12
hours.
I
usually soak in the evening at about 5pm, grind them before sleeping and next
day morning it is ready to be cooked.
Now
take a non-stick tawa and pre heat it on a medium flame.
Once
it is heated, add a ladle full of this batter and spread it evenly so that it
forms a nice roti like circle. Don’t make it too thin.
