Chicken with dates and mushrooms

chicken with dates and mushrooms
Shallow fried chicken pieces cooked with dates, shallots (The shallot is a sweet member of the onion family and the flavour of shallot is much milder and sweeter than onion) and mushrooms. It is a Hayderabadi dish and serves as main course. Cooking time 25 minutes and serving for 4.

Ingredients
Chicken cut into 12 pieces on the bone
800 grams
Dates seed
10-15
Oil
3 tablespoons
Onion
1 medium
Refined flour (maida)
2 tablespoons
Black pepper powder
1 teaspoon
Shallots
12-15
Mushrooms stems removed
8-10
Red wine
1/4 cup
Chicken stock
2 cups
Tomato puree
2 tablespoons

Methods
Chop onion in a chopper. Now heat 2 tablespoons oil in a non stick pan. Now sprinkle maida, ½ teaspoon pepper powder and salt over the chicken pieces and mix well and place them in hot pan in a single layer and cook on high heat, after a while turn sides till they get lightly coloured. Drain and place them in a bowl.

Now in different pan put 1 tablespoon oil, heat up the oil now add shallots and mushrooms and sauté for 1 minute, cover and cook for 3-4 minutes. Now add chopped onion and sauté for 2 minutes. Add red wine and mix well.

Now add tomato puree, mix it then add chicken, dates, chicken stock and mix well. Add salt, remaining black pepper powder and mix well. When it comes to boil, cover and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes, stir it in middle of cooking. Serve hot.
